What a Gameweek that was! Gameweek 6 delivered everything we love about the Fantasy Premier League: monster hauls from unlikely heroes, premium assets delivering the goods, and dramatic results up and down the country. For some, it was a week of huge green arrows, while for others, it's back to the drawing board.

Let's break down the standout performers from GW6 and see how the points were won.

Omar Alderete (Sunderland) - 17 Points

The undisputed king of Gameweek 6! Sunderland's Omar Alderete delivered a colossal 17-point haul away at Nottingham Forest. The centre-back was a force at both ends of the pitch, scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory. His performance was rewarded with a goal (6 pts), a clean sheet (4 pts), maximum bonus points (3 pts), and points for playing 90 minutes and his defensive contributions. A dream week for his owners.

Erling Haaland (Man City) - 16 Points

Just when you think he can't get any better, Erling Haaland reminds everyone why he's template. The Norwegian powerhouse was at the heart of Man City's 5-1 demolition of Burnley, bagging two goals (8 pts) and turning provider with an assist (3 pts). To top it off, he collected all 3 bonus points for a massive 16-point return. If you didn't captain him, you were likely hiding behind the sofa.

Igor Thiago Rodrigues (Brentford) - 13 Points

Brentford's Igor Thiago was the star of the show in their impressive 3-1 victory over Man United. The forward was clinical in front of goal, scoring two goals (8 pts) to sink the Red Devils. His match-winning performance earned him the maximum 3 bonus points, leading to a fantastic 13-point haul that rewarded the managers who took a punt on him.

Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal) - 13 Points

Big Gabi does it again! The Arsenal centre-back proved his worth at both ends of the pitch in a tough away fixture against Newcastle. Gabriel scored a crucial goal (6 pts) in the Gunners' 2-1 win. His dominant defensive display, racking up 19 defensive contributions, also helped him secure 3 bonus points, making it a very happy Sunday for his FPL backers.

Robin Roefs (Sunderland) - 10 Points

The Sunderland defence was the story of the weekend, and goalkeeper Robin Roefs was central to it. He brought in a double-digit haul with 10 points thanks to a vital clean sheet (4 pts) away at Nottingham Forest. What's more, he made 6 saves (2 pts) and was awarded 2 bonus points for his efforts.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) - 9 Points

Mr. Consistent strikes again. Jarrod Bowen found the back of the net in West Ham's 1-1 draw with Everton, earning 4 points as a midfielder. His stellar performance was enough to bag him the maximum 3 bonus points, resulting in a solid 9-point return for his owners.

Granit Xhaka (Sunderland) - 9 Points

Another hero from Sunderland's win, Granit Xhaka, showed his creative prowess. He provided the crucial assist (3 pts) for Alderete's goal and was instrumental in securing the clean sheet (1 pt for a midfielder). A solid all-round performance, including 20 defensive contributions, saw him pick up 1 bonus point and a tidy 9-point return.

Marcos Senesi Barón (Bournemouth) - 7 Points

Even without a clean sheet, Marcos Senesi found a way to deliver for his owners in Bournemouth's 2-2 draw with Leeds. The defender provided an assist (3 pts) and his impressive 15 defensive contributions (2 pts) helped him secure 1 bonus point, although conceding twice meant a -1 hit. Still, 7 points from a defender is a great result.

Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace) - 7 Points

Crystal Palace pulled off one of the results of the weekend, beating league leaders Liverpool 2-1 at home, and Marc Guéhi was at the centre of it. While the clean sheet was wiped, the defender provided an unexpected attacking return with an assist (3 pts). He also earned 2 points for his 11 defensive contributions, rewarding his owners with a very respectable 7-point haul against the toughest of opposition.

Jaidon Anthony (Burnley) - 6 Points

In a game dominated by Haaland, Jaidon Anthony also got in on the act in City's 5-1 thrashing of Burnley. The midfielder scored a goal (5 pts) but a yellow card (-1 pt) slightly soured his return, leaving him with a solid 6 points for the Gameweek.

Nordi Mukiele (Sunderland) - 6 Points

Completing the Sunderland defensive masterclass is Nordi Mukiele. He played the full 90 minutes to secure the clean sheet (4 pts), bringing home a classic defender's 6-point haul for his owners.

My Take on Gameweek 6

If Gameweek 6 taught us anything, it's that FPL is a game of beautiful unpredictability. Seeing three Sunderland players feature in the week's top performers, all from a 1-0 away win, is the kind of result that defines a season for the few managers who took a chance on them. Omar Alderete's 17-point haul is a perfect reminder that there's immense value to be found in teams and players that aren't on everyone's radar.

Of course, on the other side of the coin, you have the relentless consistency of Erling Haaland. He serves as a reminder that while brave differential picks can win you a Gameweek, the reliable premium assets are the foundation of a top-ranking team. It's all about finding that perfect balance.

Another key takeaway for me is the growing importance of attacking defenders. Notice how many of the defenders on this list (Alderete, Gabriel, Senesi, Guéhi) delivered points through a goal or an assist. In today's FPL, having defenders who offer multiple routes to points is no longer a luxury—it's becoming a necessity.

It was a week that rewarded courage but didn't punish those who played it safe with the captaincy. Now, it's time to absorb the lessons and get ready for GW7.

Good luck for the next one! May your arrows be green.
